THE HEATING OF HIGH VISCOSITY OILS BY NATURAL CONVECTION
Abstract
The increasing use of highly viscous fuel oils, with their
unique heating and circulating characteristics, has accentuated the problems associated with the storage and transportation of heavy fuel oils.
To facilitate the design of suitable heating systems, for these viscous fuel oils, a knowledge of the physical processes involved during the heating period is necessary.
This paper discusses the results of recent investigations into the heating of high viscosity oils by natural convection and their application in the design of heating systems for storage tanks and transportation vessels for highly viscous fluids.
