Experimental Investigation on the Composite Cooling of a Semicylinder Leading Edge
Abstract
An experimental investigation is carried out to study the composite cooling of the leading edge region of a semi-cylinder for simulating a turbine vane with its concave surface for studying impingement cooling and its convex surface for film cooling. A detailed discussion is presented in this papar on both the heat transfer characteristics of the impingement cooling and the film cooling effectiveness. The effects of location and direction of the film holes on both the impingement and the film cooling is studied by experiments with various geometrical configurations and flow conditions.
