On the shape factor and thermal response of finite cylinders
Abstract
In earlier work a procedure has been outlined towards a universal approach for the prediction of the course of a freezing or chilling process. Part of this procedure is the attribution to an arbitrary object of a shape factor based on the long time chilling behaviour with constant temperature boundary condition. In this paper information is given how the shape factor as defined can give reliable predictions of the mean temperature during chilling for a finite cylinder and a portion or sector of a finite cylinder.
