COOLING OF A ROTATING DISK BY MEANS OF AN IMPINGING JET
Abstract
Influence of a jet impinging on a rotating disk on cooling process of the disk was experimentally measured. Laminar and turbulent local heat transfer coefficients were obtained for wide range of rotational and jet Reynolds numbers. Correlation formulae for both
flow conditions are proposed and respective
differences in heat transfer mechanisms discussed.
It is shown that jet promotion of turbulence
causes laminar heat transfer coefficients
to increase strongly while it provokes
no such strong influence on turbulent heat
transfer. Finally, correlation formula for laminar
heat transfer is compared with existing
experimental data and satisfactory agreemant
shown.
