EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF CRITICAL HEAT FLUX IN FORCED CONVECTION BOILING OF FREON IN A TUBE AT HIGH SUBCRITICAL PRESSURE
Abstract
Experimental data were obtained of the critical heat flux in Freon 22 at high subcritical pressure (reduced pressure of 0.68 to 0.96) flowing upward in a vertical, uniformly heated round tube. The critical heat flux or critical quality was found to be classified into three characteristic regimes. A dimensionless correlating equation was obtained for each regime, which agrees with the experimental data within the limit of ±10 per cent in respect of the critical heat flux and within the limit of ±0.05 in respect of the critical quality. These correlating equations were proved also to predict successfully the critical heat flux in Freon 115 at high subcritical pressure.
