Towards High-Performance Thermal Flow Solvers based on the Link-Wise Artificial Compressibility Method
摘要
An extension to the link-wise artificial compressibility method (LW-ACM) for thermal simulation of weakly compressible flows is presented. This three-dimensional numerical model is designed with a view to highperformance implementations on massively parallel accelerators. In addition, an implementation of the proposed thermal LW-ACM model on graphics processing units is described. For validation purposes, the differentially heated cubic cavity was simulated. Using the Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan commodity graphics card enabled to perform computations on meshes containing up to 5363 nodes, i.e. about 154 million nodes. The simulations remained stable for Rayleigh numbers up to Ra = 108. Both accuracy and performance showed to be satisfactory: the Nusselt numbers at isothermal walls are in good agreement with reference values from the literature and time-to-solution is typically less than one hour. Although the LW-ACM is still at an early stage of development, the present study proves the effectiveness of high-performance thermal flow solvers on desktop computers.
