HEAT TRANSFER WITH LOW DENSITY PARTICLES IN A FLUIDIZED BED
Аннотация
The heat transfer characteristics of fluidized beds using low density particles has been measured. Heat transfer between the bed and horizontal bare tubes and finned tubes were investigated along with the heat transfer to bed walls. Particles, with density ranging between 40 Kg/m3 (2.7 lb/ft3) and 500 Kg/m3 (31.8 lb/ft3) were used in a bubbling fluidized bed. The particle diameters ranged from 250 μm to 2mm. For all particles the heat transfer coefficients were substantially higher than coefficients for single phase gas flow. Evaluating the bare tube data with a model including a surface thermal resistance and a time varying emulsion resistance in series, the derived rendering time for the emulsion was remarkably similar for particles where minimum fluidization velocities vary by two orders of magnitude.
