HEAT TRANSFER IN COMPOSITE CIRCULAR FINS AT STEADY STATE
Resumo
This investigation treats analytically heat transfer in circular fins composed of two materials considering radial and transverse temperature variations. The two-dimension Laplace equation is solved by separation of variables and results obtained are compared with those for a single material fin with radial temperature variations only. The one-dimension analysis employs a volumetric average thermal conductivity to approximate the two-material fin. Significant errors in the composite fin heat transfer are found due to neglect of the transverse temperature gradients.
