要約

Stagnation point heat transfer rates have been measured from natural gas-air flames impinging normally onto a plane surface. The flames were supported on several types of premixed gas burner and a nozzle burner which had provision for the insertion of turbulence promotion grids. Schlieren photography was used to characterise the flame structure. The experimental results for the axial variation in heat transfer were compared to those calculated from a semi-empirical heat transfer theory. The axial heat transfer variation could not be correlated on a simple similarity basis and the results for the tip of the inner cone showed wide differences depending upon burner type. These differences were related to the turbulence structure of the free firing flames and hence the burner design.
