要約

An apparatus for accurate measurements of the thermal conductivity of liquids has been developed. The special features of the apparatus constructed are: (l) by inserting a series of concentric multilayer thin pipes in the sample body the influences of the natural convection and the radiative heat transfer can be neglected, the radial distance and temperature difference between the hot and cold surfaces of the sample body can be increased. All these are important for improving the accuracy of the measurements. (2) The ends of the cylinder are purposely maintained at the same temperature as that of the cold surface of the sample body, thus, the ends heat loss can easily be experimentally determined. Experimental results of some liquids such as toluene, glycerol, ethyl alcohol, butyl alcohol and water agreed well with that of the reference hand-books. The closeness of agreement among repeated measurements is within 1%.
