BOILING HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS FROM VERY SMALL HEATERS ON A SUBSTRATE
Résumé
Boiling heat transfer from small heating elements on a glass substrate is studied. In the present work, two types of glass substrates are prepared in order to study size, distance and number effects on the heat transfer characteristics. Boiling curves show significant change from conventional flat plate heater behavior to conduction governed behavior with decreasing heater size. However, sharp drop of the temperature of the
smallest heater suggests that the heater temperature is
not simply determined by substrate conduction at the
instance of bubble departure. Both distance and number
of heaters have influence on the bubble behavior and
heater temperature.
