POOL BOILING FROM DOWNWARD-FACING CURVED SURFACE IN SATURATED WATER
Résumé
Quenching experiments are performed to investigate
pool boiling from downward-facing curved surfaces in water.
Experiments used two copper test sections of the same
diameter (50.8 mm) and radius of surface curvature (148 mm),
but of different thicknesses (12.8 mm and 20 mm). The MHF,
at the lowest inclination position, Θ = 0°, on the surface of the 12.8 mm section is about two times higher than that for a flat one of the same dimensions, but the same at Θ = 8.26°.
However, the measured wall superheats at MHF are higher than
those for the flat surface at the same equivalent surface
inclination. The MHF for the 12.8 mm section is 11% lower
than that for the thicker one at Θ = 0° , but about the same at 8.26°
