HEAT TRANSFER IN FIXED BED CHEMICAL REACTORS
Résumé
Several models for heat transfer in fixed bed reactors have been proposed. The main point of difference is the manner in which axial thermal dispersion of heat is
considered; axial dispersion is either excluded
or considered to take place in the fluid phase, in the solid phase or in both phases. The models are compared in numerical prediction of heat transfer phenomena,
and then compared against the background of several experimental investigators, both of transient and steady state heat transfer. It is found that the physics of
heat transfer is interpreted consistently by different models if thermal dispersion is considered. The experimental estimates of axial and radial dispersion
and particle to fluid transfer are correlated
by equations of simple form.
