LAMINAR FILM CONDENSATION ON A FINITE HORIZONTAL SURFACE
Sinopsis
An analytical and experimental investigation has been made of laminar film condensation of water on a flat horizontal plate. Theoretical solutions are presented for condensate film profile and for local and average heat transfer coefficients. Experimental data for the condensate film profile are in good agreement
with predicted values when the data are normalized on the
maximum film thickness. It is shown that both the mean Nusselt number and the profile can be predicted as a function of Sherwood number only for a wide range of operating conditions.
