THE EFFECTS OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS IN NOZZLES ON HEAT TRANSFER
Abstract
This paper presents results of an experimental and an analytical investigation of accerlerated flow in a
nozzle whose surface has been roughened. Agreement between theory and experiment is good. Ste are found
to increase by 35 precent over Ste for smooth walls. A small gain in heat transfer is offset by severe
increase in wall shear stress. No laminarization was noted for rough surfaces.
