FORCED CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER IN AN ANNULUS
Abstract
The paper describes experimental work to determine local heat transfer coefficients and overall pressure drop data for two annular channels of diameter ratio 1.47 and 1.20. Tests in helium and nitrogen were carried out at annulus Reynolds numbers of 104 and 2 × 104 with further tests in nitrogen only at 105.
Surface to bulk gas temperature ratios up to 1.8 were investigated. The test conditions chosen were
influenced by high temperature gas cooled reactor design requirements.
