THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SUBLIMATION PROCESS FOR PRESERVATION OF ACTIVITIES OF BIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCES
Abstract
An analytical model of the sublimation process
for preservation of activities of biological substances
is defined. It is a coupled heat and mass transfer problem with a variable temperature and a variable vapor concentration at the moving sublimation front. In order to obtain an analytical solution, the quasi-steady-state approximation is used to determine the temperature and vapor concentration at the sublimation front, the distributions of the temperature and vapor concentration in the biological substance, as well as the location of
the sublimation front.
