FINITE ELEMENT SIMULATION OF HEAT TRANSFER DURING METAL FORMING PROCESSES
Abstract
Two versions of a thermal-mechanical model of hot forming, applicable to either steady-state or transient processes, are presented. Wire and tube drawing, plane strain and axially symmetrical compression, hot, warm and cold rolling are simulated. Comparison of measured and calculated values of temperatures in compression and rolling indicates that the predictive ability of the model is very good.
