Аннотация

The shell-and-tube heat exchanger with overlapped helical baffles (STHX-OHB) is the optimized heat transfer equipment based on the heat exchanger with segmental baffles (STHX-SB). Although this heat exchanger possesses small pressure drop, the local heat transfer coefficient is always lower than that of STHX-SB, which confines its application in industry widely and induces a lot of structural optimization to improve exchanger performance. This research paper adopted the numerical simulation to illustrate the detailed characteristics of flow and heat transfer on the shell side of STHX-OHB, and the effect of the leakage stream through the triangular zone was especially demonstrated at different helix angles aiming to provide the evidence for optimization. Meanwhile, based on the description of characteristics, an optimized design was proposed and was proving better in the comprehensive performance.
