Convection-Radiation Interaction in Eccentric Annulus Using the Coupled Lattice Boltzmann and Meshless Method

In the present work, we developed a coupled lattice Boltzmann and direct collocation meshless (LB-DCM) method, to investigate the interaction phenomena between laminar mixed convection and thermal radiation in eccentric annulus with gray participating medium. Separate particle distribution functions in the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) are used to calculate the density and velocity fields and the thermal field. The radiative term of energy equation is computed using the meshless method. Isotherms and streamlines are obtained by the LB-DCM approach for various parameters such as the eccentricity, Rayleigh number, Reynolds number, convection-radiation parameter and extinction coefficient. The results show that the LB-DCM combination is stable and accurate. Besides, this hybrid approach is easy to implement and has an excellent flexibility in dealing with the irregular geometries.
