The plasma polymerization method and the dynamic ion-beam mixed implantation method were employed to prepare the ultra-thin polymeric films on the brass tube surfaces. The experiments on condensation of steam were carried out under the atmospheric pressure. The condensation heat transfer coefficients were found to be increased by about 20 times compared with that of filmwise condensation. In addition, the experimental results have demonstrated that dropwise condensation heat transfer and the lifetime of maintaining dropwise condensation are greatly dependent on the processing conditions. Meanwhile ,the properties of the films were evaluatd and characterized as the criteria of prejudging dropwise condensation.
