Аннотация

In this paper, results of an Investigation are reported on effect of condensate inundation on heat transfer in bundles of horizontal integral-fin tubes. Heat transfer measurements and visual observations were carried out in an in-line bundle of 8 rows × 2 lines and in a simulated bundle where the conditioned liquid was fed on a single tube. No remarkable decrease in condensation coefficient could be recognized in the in-line bundle, because condensate liquid did not fall regularly onto lower tubes, due to instability in falling liquid flow. In the simulated bundle, however, condensation coefficient decreased with increasing film Reynolds number of supplied liquid. This phenomenon could be explained well by an analytical model wherein condensation coefficient decreases due to a decrease in effective fin area, caused by the liquid flowing down between fins. Test fluid used was Refrigerant R123, which attracts attention as an alternative to Refrigerant R11, due to its lower ozone depletion potential. Two kinds of integral-fin tubes with different fin pitches were used as the test tubes.
