ROUND LIQUID JET IMPINGEMENT HEAT TRANSFER: LOCAL NUSSELT NUMBERS IN THE REGION WITH NON ZERO PRESSURE GRADIENT

The heat, transfer between a liquid round jet and a flat horizontal surface is studied in this paper, with particular regard to the region where the fluid flow on the wall is affected by a not negligible pressure gradient. The dependence of the local Nusselt number on Reynolds and Prandtl numbers and on nozzle to surface spacing, Z/D, is examined. The existence of several "heat transfer regimes" at the stagnation point, depending on Re and Z/D is stressed, as well as a non monotonous radial distribution of the Nusselt number, changing its shape with Re.
