Аннотация

A numerical investigation of the interaction between free convection and forced convection due to the rotation of a horizontal isothermal circular disk about its axis has been carried out. The problem has been solved on an axisymmetric computational domain extending upto five radii of the disk in the radial direction (r) and eight radii of the disk on either side of the disk in the axial direction (2). The governing Navier-Stokes equations have been discretized using a primitive variables formulation and the pressure-velocity coupling has been handled by the SIMPLER algorithm. The results are presented in the form of streamline and isotherm plots, and the plots of local Nusselt number on the surfaces of the disk as a function of the radial coordinate. The variation of the overall Nusselt number on the top and bottom surfaces of the disk has been plotted as a function of Grashof number and the rotational Reynolds number, covering the laminar mixed convection regime.
