Аннотация

From temperature-controlled experiments of forced convective transition boiling heat transfer during upflow of water in a vertically mounted short circular tube, 349 data points of wall temperature at minimum local heat flux were deduced. The parametric effects of pressure (0.11 ÷ 1.2 MPa) local equilibrium quality (-0.04 ÷ 0.87), mass flux (10 ÷ 1000 kg/(m2s), and inlet subcooling (4 ÷ 57 K) on the maximum transition boiling temperature obtained in this unique study were investigated and are accurately rendered by an empirical correlation that was derived from the data and has the correct asymptotic trends for zero flow and saturated conditions. It was shown that the high temperature limit of flow transition boiling is not thermodynamically controlled but, apart from pressure, depends on further local parameters as well as the upstream history of the flow.
