Аннотация

Local mass transfer coefficients are measured on the surfaces of rectangular cavities, aspect ratios from 1 to 6, for turbulent air flowing over the cavities. The naphthalene sublimation technique in association with a computer-controlled measurement system provides detailed local mass transfer information. The local mass transfer distribution varies strongly on the different surfaces in a cavity, and is also dependent on the aspect ratio. The mass transfer surface in the present study simulates an isothermal wall over an entire cavity and its adjacent surfaces, upstream and downstream. Comparison between the area-averaged mass transfer results and average heat transfer correlations in other studies suggests that the influence of the upstream thermal boundary condition may be important.
