Аннотация

New heat transfer data obtained from a low-finned tube bank is presented and compared to existing prediction methods. This data is unique because the shellside fluid is hydrogen rather than air and because the fin height is about one-quarter of that used for typical air-cooler finned tubes. Colburn factor-Reynolds number curves are obtained by three different methods: the normal method, a method using measured inlet and outlet tube wall temperatures, and a new method. This new method is based on an optimization procedure to evaluate the coefficients and exponents that minimize the sum of the squared deviations of the measured and predicted overall heat transfer coefficients for the 28 data points. The three methods yield results with a the maximum deviation less than 8 percent. The best-estimate Colburn factor curve is then compared with two correlations. The data falls below a plain tube prediction and about 8 percent above a recently presented heat transfer correlation dedicated solely to low-finned tubes.
