Аннотация

A theoretical analysis is presented for the transient, solid-liquid phase change process occuring in a cylindrical annulus in which rectangular circumferential fins are attached to the inner tube with uniform axial spacing. The inner tube is the primary heat transfer surface and is maintained isothermal while the outer tube is kept adiabatic. The fins extend from the inner to the outer tube. This study is relevant to the design of heat exchangers in latent heat thermal energy storage system. Based on the computed results, following working correlation is suggested for estimating the phase change volume fraction:
VF = 1.0253(Fo Ste Tf)0.566L−1.272W−0.049A−0.0484
