Numerical Study of Natural Convection Heat Transfer in Converging Channels
Аннотация
A numerical study of natural convection heat transfer in a converging channel for different angles of convergence
has been carried out, taking into account the lacks presented in the literature on some aspects of heat transfer in this particular configuration. Two-dimensional laminar simulations are obtained by solving the fully-elliptic governing equations using two different general purpose codes, Fluent and Phoenics. The Boussinesq approximation is assumed to be valid. Comparison of computational results with experimental and numerical results from literature are
made. Correlations for the average Nusselt number have been obtained from numerical results in isothermal heated
converging channels. The recirculation patterns that may appear in the air flow for certain ranges of parameters in
the case of asymmetric heating have been also studied.
