Numerical Study of Conjugate Steady Viscous Flow About and Inside a Spherical Bubble
Аннотация
This paper presents a numerical study of conjugate viscous flows about and inside a spherical gas bubble. A calculating procedure in terms of primitive variables is proposed to replace the widely used stream functionvorticity methods. A multi-blockiteration strategy incorporated with a non-orthogonal mesh and high-order discretisation schemes is employed in the flow solver. Well-posed boundary conditions and their corresponding treatments for the interface are presented. Numerical simulations are carried out for the steady conjugate viscous flows about and inside a spherical air bubble rising in unbounded quiescent water, with exterior Reynolds number varies from 10 to 550. The flow structure behind a spherical bubble is found being drastically different from that of a liquid drop. No flow separation is observed when the exterior Reynolds number varies in the above range.
