Аннотация

A method is developed for predicting the effective thermal conductivity of solid-liquid suspensions which eliminates the assumption of a unidirectional heat flux and a geometric arrangement of particles. Two models employing digital simulation are presented. Experimental values of the conductivity of suspensions of metal powders in water have been obtained for a range of pure component conductivity ratio from 26.5:1 to 647:1 and of up to 30 per cent of solid phase by volume. The relative plane horizontal layer method was used for this study. The two models predict the experimental results with overall mean errors of 2.55 per cent and 6.64 per cent respectively.
