Аннотация

A unified correlation of the decay of turbulent buoyant jets issuing into a uniform environment at rest is studied. The unified scaling law for correlating the velocity, temperature or density are derived from a dimensional analysis and is shown to be applicable for both plumes and jets as well as general buoyant jets. Many sets of data on plumes and jets are examined and plotted according to the derived scaling law for length, velocity and density. The data are shown to fall into a single curve and thus can be classified into non-buoyant region, intermediate region and plume region. From the present analysis reliable data are identified and equations that describe the decay of velocity and density of buoyant jets are given from non-buoyant region to plume region.
