A theoretical analysis has been made of the effect of high frequency periodic pressure pulsations of finite amplitude on the time-averaged coefficients of skin friction and heat transfer in the subsonic laminar nonisothermal boundary layer of the gas.
A calculation procedure is proposed which allows one to obtain limiting dependences for skin friction and heat transfer at ω → ∞. A new qualitative pattern of the phenomenon under investigation has been established. A detailed study has been made of the case of pulsation wave-length being much larger than the surface dimension. The sign of increment of skin friction and heat transfer coefficients has been found to depend on the sign of the average pressure gradient and heat transfer direction. Numerical calculation results are presented for the flow in the vicinity of stagnation point and in the "critical diffusor".
