Аннотация

In some designs of nuclear boilers part of the primary circuit fluid can by-pass the main boilers at the gap between the edge tubes and the casing, thus leading to a non-uniform flow distribution across the boiler. In order to control the boilers efficiently a knowledge of these flows and an ability to predict their behaviour under operating conditions are required. This paper describes measurements of flows and thermal diffusion that have been made on models of boiler tube banks with various by-pass gaps. Further, the development of a computer code to predict the flows and thermal diffusion is reported. Comparisons between the code and data from a pressurized wind tunnel for operational conditions show that the method can be used with confidence.
