ADVANCED BOUNDARY-LAYER THEORY IN HEAT TRANSFER
Аннотация
Boundary-layer theory as a theory to solve the Navier-Stokes equations for high Reynolds numbers is just one special case of a general asymptotic theory for small
or large dimensionless parameters occurring
in fluid flow and convective heat transfer problems. The first part of the paper deals with a few examples showing important aspects of asymptotic theory in general. The second part gives a survey of recent developments in asymptotic analysis of laminar and turbulent boundary layers with the emphasis on multi-layer structured
boundary layers. By this latter theory, flow problems can be treated for which Prandtl's boundary-layer theory fails. Examples for the application of this theory
to various fluid flow and heat transfer problems are presented. Applications of the asymptotic theory to turbulent boundary layers conclude the paper.
