Energy limitations:
- a temperature interval which has its highest value limited by the way it is produced, and its lowest value by the way it is used,
- the limited time of the storing and destoring operations.
For this reasons the present study concerns the periodic heat transfer kinetic between a phase change parallelepipedic element and an outer heat exchanging system. This study includes an experimental part which emphazises the role and the importance of the different heat transfer processes which follow each other during the storing and destoring phases. In a second part a numerical, one dimensional model is proposed. This model takes account of the strong non-linearities of the storing material thermophysical properties. It also considers the increasing propagation speed of the melting front due to natural convection. Numerical results are in good agreement with experimental ones. This study could be used for optimizing the dimensions (thickness, height) of a parallelepipedic storage unit, adapted to a given period.
