Аннотация

Essential information concerning forced convective heat transfer coefficients in industrial processes can be obtained from experiments on isothermal scale models. Heat transfer surfaces in the process are replaced by mass transfer surfaces in the model and heat transfer coefficients derived from mass transfer measurements using the Chilton-Colburn analogy between heat and mass transfer. Solid sublimation and electrolytic mass transfer techniques have been developed for this purpose and applied to a model of a rapid billet heating furnace. Both methods have been shown to give results which are in good agreement with each other and with directly comparable heat transfer measurements in the same model.
