Enhancing Heat Transfer in Mini-Scale Liquid-Cooled Heat Sinks by Flow Oscillation
Resumo
The heat transfer performance of mini-scale baffled channels were analysed numerically using Ansys FLUENT 2020 to compare flow conditions through the channel to investigate Nu enhancement associated with the oscillatory flow profiles. Laminar net-flow Reynolds numbers of 100 and 250 were investigated, with oscillatory flow conditions of a 3mm and 5mm amplitude and a frequency range of 0Hz to 45Hz. The velocity ratio, net-flow Reynolds number and oscillation amplitude were all investigated to determine how each affect the value of Nu. The highest value for Nu was calculated to be 61.93 for a net-flow Reynolds number of 250, an oscillation amplitude of 3mm and a Ψ value of 7 (45Hz). The maximum Nusselt number enhancement vs the steady flow case was found to be a 4 fold increase for a Ren of 100, and a 7.6 fold increase for a Ren of 250.
