Resumo

Despite of the large number of papers available in the open literature regarding two phase heat transfer inside microfin tubes with diameters larger than 5 mm, which are now widely available in the market, small sized microfin tubes are still a topic which deserves further studies, and they could be introduced in the market in the next years. Few studies are available during flow boiling inside small sized microfin tubes, and condensation is still almost unexplored. This paper aims to enlarge the database of experimental data points during condensation of low GWP refrigerants inside this new class of microfin tubes. Tests were carried out during condensation of R1234ze(E) for mass velocities from 100 to 800 kg m-2 s-1 at saturation temperatures of 30 °C and 40 °C. Experimental results are given in terms of heat transfer coefficient and frictional pressure drop. The results show the interesting heat transfer capabilities of the mini microfin tube under investigation, as long as the capabilities of the new low GWP refrigerant R1234ze(E).
