Resumo

The employment of the thermal energy storage (TES) system is effective to enhance the power load regulation capability of the combined heat and power (CHP) plants. Based on the experimental study on the water thermocline storage tank with encapsulated paraffin wax packed bed (PCM-water tank), which has a remarkable improvement in energy storage density compared to the traditional water storage tank, the unsteady characteristics of the PCM-water tank is presented. Under the simultaneous operation of charging and discharging, the combined effect is equivalent to a corresponding simple charging/discharging at the flow rate of the difference between the charging and discharging flow rates. When the charging is periodic, both shorter non-charging duration and larger charging flow rate result in stabler hot outlet water temperature for heat-supply, but the influence of the former is more significant.
