Resumo

With the economy development, the market share of refrigerated food has being increased year by year in China. The refrigerated display cabinets(RDCs) hence play an important role in the cold-chain of food, and cause huge energy consumption. Considering the special advantages, such as compact conformation, high thermal efficiency and light weight, and the great potential of energy savings, a micro-channel heat exchanger was used in a RDC system and the research results are introduced in this paper.A new micro-channel heat exchanger, with the same front face area and the same heat transfer area, was designed to replace the fin-tube condenser of a RDC. The tested performances of the new RDC and the prototype were compared. The operation characteristics of the refrigeration system were also analyzed, based on the change of condenser. As a result, the new RDC showed an energy efficiency improvement of about 6.1% and a refrigerant (R404a) charge reduction of nearly 30%. This preliminary research has validated the application potential of micro-channel heat exchanger in RDC, great energy savings, reduction of greenhouse gas consumption, and the advantage of flammable refrigerant application.
