Resumo

In this paper, the transient three dimensional direct numerical simulations based on the MARS (Multi-interface Advection and Reconstruction Solver) combined with the non-empirical boiling and condensation model have been performed for an isolated boiling bubble behavior on a Pt-wire heater in diameter of 0.1 mm in a subcooled pool. The boiling-bubble departure behaviors from the heating surface located in the subcooled pool were mainly investigated. The results regarding the bubble shape, the temperature distribution around the bubble and the wall heat flux obtained by the numerical simulations were discussed. Comparing of the numerical results with those of the visualization experiments, the overall bubble departing behaviors were in good agreement with the experimental results. The numerical results clearly depicted the formation process of the temperature distribution around the bubble by means of a volume rendering visualization technique and the heat transfer characteristics such as the wall heat flux distribution on the heating surface during the bubble departing process. In conclusion, the proposed direct numerical procedure, which consists of the MARS combined with the nonempirical boiling and condensation model, could be useful to predict the subcooled pool boiling phenomena.
