Resumo

We investigate in this paper heat transfer in crystals by conduction at ultra short time and space scales with a statistical method. We actually solve the Boltzmann transport equation for the phonons in the relaxation time approximation with a Monte Carlo method in which individual heat carriers (phonons) are followed. Phonons dispersion and polarization are taken into account. Collision processes are considered through Normal, Umklapp, defects and boundaries interactions. Energy and momentum conservation is insured statistically in the collision processes through the introduction of a corrected distribution function. We apply this Monte Carlo method to the study of bulk and nanowires semiconductors in the ballistic and diffusion limits.
