Resumo

Experimental results are presented on the oscillatory convection induced by coupling of natural convection with rotating flow in a Czochralski configuration for crystal growth under an imposed cusp shaped magnetic field. A traveling thermal wave turns into a standing wave under a cusp magnetic field depending on the magnitude of the relevant flow similarity parameters and the melt aspect ratios. A flow regime diagram is presented for the existence of the traveling and standing waves.
