COMBINED USE OF ULTRASOUND AND OZONE FOR BIOFOULING CONTROL IN HEAT EXCHANGERS
Resumo
Biofouling in cooling water systems can be a serious industrial problem and many techniques have been tried to overcome it. Experiments with the combined use of ultrasound and a small concentration of ozone (2.2 - 2.8mg/l) for biofouling control were carried out in a simulated cooling water system. The results showed that biofilm growth on the tube surface can be well controlled with this combined technique.
