Resumo

This work present the results of a numerical analysis and experimental study of transient forced convection with laminar flow inside a circular duct, subjected to a periodically varying inlet temperature. The transient energy equation is solved in the thermal entrance region, under the first-kind boundary condition. By utilizing a purely numerical approach that combines a fully explicit, second-order accurate finite difference scheme with a semi-empirical relationship for the inlet temperature distribution, the thermal response of the fluid is obtained with prescribed accuracy, within the temperature field. For the cases considered, satisfactory agreement is obtained when the semi-analytical solutions of centerline temperature amplitudes and decay indices are compared with the experimental findings.
