COUPLED HEAT AND MASS TRANSFERS IN POROUS MEDIA: NUMERICAL SIMULATION FOR SOIL-BUILDING TRANSFERS
Resumo
We develop numerical methods for dynamic simulation of mass and thermal transfers between (a) building foundations, (b) surrounding soil, (c) climatic environment. For that purpose we have studied two alternative methods for the computation of the solution of a system for the liquid pressure and the temperature in the ground. The first one is based on the standard finite element method, whereas the second one is based on the mixed finite element and the modified method of characteristics. The last approach is more stable in cases where values of the liquid pressure cross regions of steep variation of the moisture content and of the permeability.
