Resumo

One of the most important properties of T.B.C. in general made of partially stabilized zirconia is the quality of the coating adhesion or cohesion which is drestically reduced when cracks parallel to the substrate surface are created by thermal shocks. This work is devoted to the description of a detection method of the cracks by pulsed heating of coating and substrate by hot water and measurement by IR thermography of surface temperature evolution versus time. The studies are related to the modelling of the pulse heating of a duplex coating, to the creation of artifical cracks or defects and to the evaluation of the detection limits (size and depth of the cracks).
