HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER ANALOGY IN GAS-LIQUID MIST FLOW INSIDE TUBE AND IMPINGING JET

Resumo

Analogy between mass and heat transport processes permits results from mass transfer studies to be used to predict heat transfer in similar situations. We have measured the mass transfer coefficient inside tubes and on disk impinged by a jet, using high velocity and high gas quality nitrogen-water flow to simulate moist steam flow; the results are compared with those obtained in heat transfer; and the correlations for heat or mass transfer inside the tube and between jet and disk are proposed. The influence of the impinging velocity, the liquid quality, the nozzle diameter, the distance between nozzle and disk, and the disk diameter, on the mass transfer coefficient has been studied. It is confirmed that those correlations can be used to predict heal transfer coefficient in similar conditions.
In this work, the superficial gas and liquid velocity ranges are: 34≤Vg≤100 m/s, and 0≤ Vl ≤ 2.3 m/s, leading to mist-annular flow inside the tube. The nozzle diameters are d = 5, 8, 10 mm, the disk diameters 2r = 4 mm, and the distance between nozzle and disk h 20 or 40 mm.
