ANALYTICAL DETERMINATION OF OPTIMUM, TRANSIENT EXPERIMENTS FOR MEASUREMENT OF THERMAL PROPERTIES
Resumo
A transient method for simultaneously determining thermal conductivity and specific heat is given. Temperature-dependent, as well as independent, thermal properties can be found utilizing finite-differences and a statistical procedure called nonlinear estimation.
When two properties are found, the experiment must be carefully selected. This selection relates primarily not to accuracy of measurements but to location of thermocouples, heating condition, etc. For this reason, a criterion is developed to evaluate the efficiency of experiments relative to property determination. Using this criterion several optimum experiments are found.
